Debt is as debilitating as any disease you can imagine. It can really take over your life and it's no wonder that people throw themselves off bridges and in front of buses. When you go to sleep at night all you can think about is debt. When you wake up in the morning it's the first thing you think about.

People often don't even want to face up to their debt problems. I guess it's like being and alcohol or drug addict. You need to admit you have a problem before you can deal with it. They say that a problem shared is a problem halved. If you have debt problems you should at least talk to someone. It doesn't necessarily have to be someone you know, it could be a debt counsellor. But whatever you do, make sure you deal with it now and not tomorrow. As they say, "tomorrow never comes."

Go to your local library and have a look at all the books available on dealing with debt. There are more than likely quite a few of them. There are many different techniques out there. You should find out which one appeals to you. Dave Ramsey and Alvin Hall are two authors you might want to see if you can look out for.
